The Market Operates Fridays June through October from 4PM to Dusk
In June 2017, the Liberty Wells Community Council started a Farmer’s Market in the Liberty Wells neighborhood. The Market is held at a beautiful park in Salt Lake City on Friday evenings. The Liberty Park Farmers Market helps support local farms and businesses by bringing fresh local produce directly to the Liberty Wells community.
In 2018, the Liberty Wells Community Council and Liberty Park Market Committee look to grow the market (pun intended) in some great ways.
The Liberty Wells Community Council is a non-profit organization made of all volunteers that identified a need for fresh local produce in the Liberty Wells area. Due to a recent increase in crime in the neighborhood, the Community Council wanted to create an ongoing event to bring neighbors together to help strengthen the community and support local farms and business.
The Market has been very successful, with 40-50 vendors and hundreds of patrons each week. Additionally, the Market was approved to accept Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT). To prove feasibility and success, the Community Council kept vendor fees low and re-invested most fees into advertising and supplies for the Market. Since this was the first year of the Market, there was no additional money to pay for staffing or large supplies.
